Irish journalist and writer Declan White won a Van Gogh Award in April 2017 for his movie screenplay HAIRS in one of Europe’s most prestigious movie festival competitions.
Declan White’s HAIRS won first prize at the 2017 Amsterdam Film Festival, SCREENPLAY COMPETITION WINNER in the Feature Screenplay Competition.
The Amsterdam Film Festival in congratulation Declan White for winning First Place, beating writers from 20 countries, stated:
“The contest received a wide variety of submissions representing top storytellers from over 20 countries around the world.
“The quality of the work that we had the honor of reviewing was simply astounding.
“Judging from among this exceptionally high caliber of filmmaking talent proved to be extremely difficult as there were so many unique, well-made and worthy projects.
“After several months of careful consideration, we present the very best of the 2017 competition.” – First Place: Hairs written by Declan White

 

2. Winner Meters Film Festival; New York State, USA, April 2017

The Meters Film Festival in April 2017 in New York State, USA, awarded Hairs as the Best Screenplay.
The Meters Film Festival was held at the Bristol Valley Theater managed by its creative director Karin Bowersock.
The audience voted on a favourite film, and the competitive programme of the Festival included eight main nominations.

Los Angeles goes crazy for the political horror thriller HAIRS.
Screenwriter Declan White was invited to Hollywood in October 2016 to receive a 1st Place Winner prize at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards.
“It was so well deserved, Declan,” the Hollywood-based LAIFFA stated in an email to the Irish writer.
“We certainly look forward to see more of your work in future. Wish you all the best.”
Winners received awards in front of a live audience at the LAIFFA Ceremony in Los Angeles in October 2016.
Declan’s thriller reveals how military, mafia, politicians and big-pharma are pushing a fiendish GMO concoction on the American public, resulting in a scary hairy disease that attacks humanity.
This is only the start… they have more genetic monsters on the way to plague the Americans, and the world.
But one woman is out to stop them … with hairstyles that will knock audiences over… and might scare us into fleeing the cinema.
